What is Wing Chun?
A combat style hailing from the lands of great martial artists and warriors, Wing Chun is a form of Chinese martial arts. Wing Chun is a self-defense combat technique that focuses on the weaknesses of your opponent and how to use them to your advantage. Wing Chun requires more precision and less physical strength as compared to many other Chinese martial arts combat styles.
Wing Chun mainly focuses on two things and they are “practicing the technique” and “softness/calmness.” Wing Chun requires you to be calm rather than being aggressive as this technique pounces on the weakness of your opponent. Wing Chun addresses trapping, grappling, striking, and, most importantly, self-defense.
Why Wing Chun?
The importance of learning martial arts is undeniable because everyone should be good enough for their self-defense. If you can learn ultra-effective forms of martial arts such as Jiu-Jitsu or Kung Fu, it is gold. However, it takes a lot of time to learn these highly demanding martial arts techniques, and it is challenging for people, especially older people and women, to learn those combat styles.
Wing Chun, on the other hand, is a “softer” technique. It does not require agility and strength needed in many other martial arts because its core ingredient is calmness. Wing Chun is relatively easier to learn as compared to other types. Moreover, it is suitable and feasible for older people and women as it requires less physical effort with minimum chances of injuries but give you sufficiency in self-defense.
